Mongolian Deputy Minister assures public that fuel shortages will not recur
Arya News - Mongolia`s Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources said 51,000 tonnes of fuel ordered for October has arrived from Russia’s Angarsk Oil Refinery.

ULAANBAATAR – The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has provided an update on the work of the Fuel Emergency Task Force.
B.Munkhtamir, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, said that of the 57,000 tonnes of fuel ordered from Russia’s Angarsk Oil Refinery for October, 51,000 tonnes have arrived, while the remaining 6,000 tonnes are currently in transit.
Nationwide, Mongolia currently has reserves sufficient for 12 days of AI-92 gasoline consumption, 28 days of diesel consumption, and 36 days of aviation fuel consumption.
For November, the fuel order from Russia has been increased to 70,000 tonnes. In addition, orders have been confirmed for 3,000 tonnes from Kazakhstan, 8,000 tonnes from China, and 12,000 tonnes from South Korea, bringing the total confirmed order to 92,000 tonnes.
Last week, a new fuel storage tank with a capacity of 16,000 cubic meters, constructed by Shine Erin LLC, was announced as ready for operation. Expanding storage capacity is essential to increasing the country’s overall fuel reserves.
Ulaanbaatar Railway currently holds a fuel supply sufficient for 6-8 days. Munkhtamir assured the public that no further fuel shortages are expected.
Drivers do not need to wait in long queues at gas stations. They can simply go and purchase fuel whenever they need it. October and November mark the seasonal transition from summer-grade to winter-grade fuel, while delays have been caused by longer turnaround times for rail tankers.
Addressing complaints that regular AI-92 gasoline was being sold as AI-95, he denied the allegations, stating that all fuel imported into the country undergoes laboratory testing. Reports of some individuals with disabilities visiting four or five different gas stations in a single day to purchase fuel.
